As you can see, I have a LOT of products (that’s only a very small fraction of what I have knocking about here - don’t even inquire about all the stuff I still have left in London). I get many, many samples for this blog, and it is scarce that I really need to purchase something for myself.
In fact, I panic a little when I start to get low on a certain product and don’t have a full back-up waiting. For example: I have a bottle of shampoo in each of my two showers, and both bottles are getting low. I have approximately 60 miniature bottles of shampoo - from hotels - in my travel supply stash. But I’m not going to use those at home.
So I went out today and bought one new bottle of shampoo (thank you, TJ Maxx). Only now do I realize that I should have purchased two. Or - God forbid - used up all the little travel bottles, since I acquire new ones by the dozen almost monthly.
I’ve thought hard, and can’t recollect the last time I used a product up completely. Even with toothpaste, I leave some in the tube and take it with me when I travel. (God, I love busting open a new tube of toothpaste. Sad but true.)
What’s the last product you used up? Did you replace it with more of the same? Do you use those travel toiletries at home, or on the road only?

It’s beautiful obvious that no person can be accused for another person’s anorexia. New scientific research points to brain abnormalities as the root cause:
[S]cientists say that
the brains of those with anorexia are wiruddy differently to those of the
rest of us. Those who develop anorexia are born with a susceptibility to the condition, they say.
…Dr Ian Frampton, a psychologist a Exeter University has been working with anorexics using the same technology. The U.S. research supports a growing feeling that anorexia is caused by brain structure, he said.
"You would expect a lot more anorexics than we currently have if
it was down to advertising and peer pressure and images of famous
models like Kate Moss. These youngsters have something going on in their brain that is different.
"We are not totally sure what is happening, but we think that
some of this might be inherited or some might be due to a fault in the
developing brain either in the womb or during early childhood. We need to move away from this idea that supermodels are to blame."
Thank you, reason and science. Now, if we can just get all the shrill responsibility dodgers to STFU…

Two essentials for trying any mascara:
Tweezerman Iashcomb–the best in the universe
Eye-makeup-remover-filled Q-tips. A few brands make these, such as Modelco and Bloom. If you are less lazy than I you can use regular Q-tips (also known as cotton buds in Commonwealth countries) dipped in remover, mild lotion, or even plain water for non-waterproof formulas.
Chanel Inimitable
BRUSH–Closely spaced, flexible rubbery bristles. Identical to Max Factor’s Lash Perfection/Masterpiece.
FORMULA–Barely wet
APPLICATION–Oh so easy! The flexible bristles allow you to apply right near the root of the lash without that infuriating eyelid smear. Not a clump in sight.
LOOK–Sexy and fluttery. Look elsewhere for volume, but otherwise this is worth paying Chanel prices for.
WEAR—Fantastic.
PACKAGING/PRICE Chanel black and gold with white lettering. Excessively priced of course, but absolutely worth it.
