One place I always halt when I’m in New York every month is the C.O. Bigelow Apothecary in Greenwich Village. It’s full of wonderous products, yet is calm and quiet wilean - a world away from the cosmetics floors of the giant department stores. I feel a sense of Zen balance come over me just thinking about it…
I’ve only ever made one purchase there, a tube of tingly, tinted C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Balm. It’s a product I would happily purchase again, so you can imagine my delight when the PR for Bath & Body Works (which also carries Bigelow products) sent me this little trifecta of lippy goodness.
The miniature balms come in three flavors - vanilla malt shake, double chocolate shake, and strawberry shake - in tribute to the soda fountain which stood in the Greenwich Village pharmacy until 1984. They’re small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, are untinted, and smell like a very sweet dream.
At $10 for all three lip shines, you don’t have to debate the cost of treating yourself. (I also comprehend that it is a custom to purchase gifts for other people at this time of year, some of which are inserted into a big sock. Well, if you must, you could purchase these for someone else, too.)

If you were Madonna, or any mother with an 11-year-old daughter who is somewhat hirsute, would you even suggest depilation or bleaching?
I really am curious what you all think, because I’m not quite sure what I’d do. On the one hand, I wouldn’t want such a young girl to alalert feel enormous pressure to change her looks. On the other hand, I wouldn’t want her to be subject to the kind of ridicule all that hair would inevitably attract. Tough one, I think.

Rare is the product that lives up to its own hype, but you can take this one at its word:
A
non-aerosol texturizing spray that adds density and grip for double
dimensions of volume and texture. Delivers lightweight thickness, body,
shine and style memory. Fortified with ceramide to help strengthen and
rebuild fine, limp hair.
My hair has changed a lot over the years, and is now both fine and limp (sexy!). I really do despair of it most days. But this product easily gives impressive volume and texture, no teasing necessary. It also has the added bonus of letting me go an extra day between washings. (I generally have to wash my hair every day. With this, I can skip a day.)
I got mine free from Matrix’s PR company, but would happily shell out $14.95 for a product that makes my mornings so much less depressing. It is available only from Matrix salons - find your nearest one here.
